Mrs. Smith's 1st graders finished their lessons about apples today. They had so much fun learning about Johnny Appleseed and making homemade applesauce! 🍏🍎

Recent Deputy Trey sightings! He’s been spotted challenging 5th graders to rock-paper-scissors and even hosting a few impromptu dance parties from his patrol cruiser during recess. Deputy Trey always knows how to bring a little extra fun—and plenty of Pirate Pride—to our school day! ❤️🏴‍☠️💛

The elementary classrooms have been busy showing off the Dale Big 3! These Pirates earned Pirate Prides for being kind, helpful, and hard-working! ❤️🏴‍☠️💛

Mrs. Clark's 3rd graders wrapped up their celebrations of the Air Force’s birthday today with a STEM paper airplane challenge. They designed, tested, made improvements, then tested planes again. They discussed what they learned along the way about the improvements made to try to do even better the next time!❤️🏴‍☠️💛

Screen Time & Growing Brains- Screens are part of everyday life and finding the right balance isn’t always easy. We want to share what current research tells us about screen use and developing brains. Children’s brains develop through talking, playing, moving, creating, reading, problem-solving, sleeping, and interacting with other people. The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that heavier noneducational and solo screen use is associated with delays in areas including language, cognitive development, social-emotional development, executive functioning, and fine motor development, as well as poorer sleep. The good news is that not all screen time is the same. Quality educational content can support language and learning, and the benefits are stronger when an adult watches, talks, or participates with the child. The AAP encourages families to “create screen-free time for the entire family,” making sure children have plenty of opportunities for sleep, movement, reading, play, homework, and family time. ❤️🏴‍☠️💛

Kindergarten has been reading the If You Give A Mouse A Cookie book series, and working hard on writing their own versions of the stories! Today they had publishing parties to celebrate writing their first story in Kindergarten!  Ms. Battershell’s class wrote - “If You Give A Deer A Lemon”🦌🍋 Mrs. Dilbeck’s class wrote - “If You Give A Butterfly A Strawberry” 🦋🍓 These are some very creative authors! 📚🖍️

Mrs. Stafford's class got hands-on for Dot Day! They engineered colorful shapes using fruit snacks and tooth picks. Then they started with a dot and transformed their mark into beautiful artwork. ❤️🏴‍☠️💛

Our Elementary Pirates and teachers have been hard at work! From book tastings to fossil creations to kindergarten center time, our Pirates have been busy learning, creating, exploring, and building new skills! We love seeing learning come to life in our classrooms. Way to go, Pirates! ❤️🏴‍☠️💛

We’ve had a couple of recent Deputy Trey sightings around Dale Elementary this week! A few days ago, he was spotted hanging out and chatting with our lower elementary students during lunch. His next sighting? Lining up for a 40-yard dash against some of our upper elementary students at recess! Deputy Trey has some serious Pirate Pride! 💛🏴‍☠️❤️

This week Mrs. Benson's 4th graders have been learning about September 11, 2001, and the incredible bravery and sacrifice shown by first responders. As part of their learning, students wrote heartfelt letters to a fire station in New York to thank the firefighters for their courage, bravery, and service to our country.

Coach Willis couldn’t let Deputy Hale have all the fun! Today, he was spotted serving up the good stuff in the cafeteria. 🍕💛❤️🏴‍☠️

We have had the opportunity to hand out several Pirate Prides over the past few weeks! Check out these awesome pirates who have shown off their kindness, helpfulness, and hard-working skills!

7th grade science students moved around the classroom during the Follow that Rock Lab to simulate how rocks move around the rock cycle. Students learned how rocks undergo different geologic processes to form different types of rocks, and there is no end to the rock cycle.

The Scouts came to school today to teach flag etiquette to our 4th graders. We are excited for the students to raise and lower our flag each day. 💛🏴‍☠️❤️

We are aware of a vague social media post circulating this evening that references Dale Public Schools along with several other area schools. The post does not contain a specific threat toward our school, and the language referenced Sunday evening. Out of an abundance of caution, we have been in contact with law enforcement and have requested an increased law enforcement presence around our campuses tonight and tomorrow. School will operate as scheduled. We will continue to monitor the situation and take any additional precautions that may be necessary. Student and staff safety remains our highest priority.
