STUDENTS AND FAMILIES OF DALE PUBLIC SCHOOLS
March 30, 2020
Dear Students, Parents, and Patrons:
The recent Coronavirus news has been a shock for all of us. All of our teachers and staff at Dale Public Schools are deeply saddened to have the 2019-2020 school year end in this manner. We miss our students, teaching, and our normal everyday routines. Although this is sad and drastic measures were implemented, these decisions were made to try to keep everyone safe as COVID-19 continues to spread.
Our administrators, teachers, and instructional support staff are working hard to develop a continuous learning plan that will help our students finish the school year strong. As you can imagine, this planning has presented challenges of its own. However, we will meet the challenge because that is what we do as Dale Pirates! Our students deserve a learning plan that will help them grow academically during this time that we are social distancing for the safety of all.
We know you and your child have many questions about what the remainder of the school year will look like. The purpose of this letter is to share what we know and to ask for your help as we prepare for this transition. We are not asking for you to try to teach your children at home. As much as we want students to be learning, we know that is not realistic for everyone. Because we cannot guarantee that all households will have equal access to the internet and resources, we will not be holding virtual learning through Zoom, Skype, or other video streaming services. We will not be assigning mandatory work or grading any of these activities, just providing resources to help you keep student’s minds active during this unexpected break in the school year.
You will soon receive information from your building Principal regarding a suggested continuous learning plan for your age level student. You can expect to receive information, suggestions, and resources that do not require the use of technology as well as resources that will require internet access and the hardware to connect, such as laptops, chrome books, or telephones. As you try to help your child to continue their learning opportunities during this time, please do not forget that kids get stressed during these difficult times just like adults. Go on walks together, read with them, play a video game together, watch their favorite shows, have them write a letter to their teacher or grandparents, have them help cook, teach them to do chores, and encourage family time when possible. You were and continue to be your child’s first and most important teacher.
We are in an unusual and uncertain time. We miss our students terribly, but we are trying to make the best of the situation for everyone. Thank you for helping us rise to this challenge. We could not do it without you!

The State Department of Health now requires ALL students entering 7th grade to have a TDAP Booster. If you are the parent or guardian of a 6th grade student, you may want to schedule an appointment for the vaccine soon in order to avoid the rush in August. Students will not be allowed to attend 7th grade next school year until proof of the TDAP vaccine has been provided to the middle school office. Thank you for your cooperation.
